Aluminum is not the best material to make a water tank. Minerals in the water can create a jelly-like corrosion that tastes terrible and can clog filters and pumps. All that corrosion eventually eats through the tank.
Pressure testing the new tank
The cabin sole teak and holly pattern could not be purchased, and our carpentry skillfully milled the holly grooves into a blank sheet, so that the pattern would match.
Cabin sole pattern matched
This boat is having her punctured tank replaced with a new 85 gallon 316L stainless steel tank. The passageway sole and part of a bulkhead were removed for access. When complete, the tank should hold drinkable water for years to come.
