Alex Beebe
Service Coordinator

Alex grew up on Lake Angelus in Michigan sailing Sunfish, Lasers, Snipes, Lightnings, Hobie Cats, you name it. After spending time working with snow skiers in the mountains, he came back to the water over a decade ago. He has worked at boatyards in Maine, Florida, and Maryland before bringing his experience to us.

Alex lives in Gloucester County.

Eddie Gibson
Service Coordinator

Eddie has been boating all his life, beginning with canoes and bass boats on the lakes and rivers of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. After a trip to San Francisco Bay hooked him on sailing, he moved from the mountains to the Chesapeake in search of better sailing grounds. Eddie has worked as a tech/mechanic and is an ABYC-certified electrical technician.

Eddie studied Environmental Science at Virginia Tech.

Eddie lives on the East River in Mathews with his wife and their five-year-old son.

Tom Hale
Service Coordinator

Tom Hale grew up on Martha's Vineyard, where his family owned a boatyard. He worked at the family yard and he later ran a boatyard of his own. He served as Technical Director of the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) in Annapolis, and he also worked for Zodiac as Director of Customer Care and RIB Engineering before coming to ZMI.

Tom graduated from Brown University with a degree in Geology and a minor in boat design. One of his designs is the lovely Vineyard Vixen sailboat.

Tom and his wife plan to be part-time liveaboards on a 37-foot trawler in Deltaville, while also spending time at their home in Annapolis. They have three grown children.

Sailing his Tartan 30, and although he "mostly lives, breathes, and sleeps boats," when he's not on the water he enjoys tending his Koi ponds.
 
Steve Wallace
Operations Manager

Steve grew up in Portland, Maine. He was introduced to sailing as a young adult, when a co-worker invited him out for a weeknight race on Casco Bay. He was hooked, and "six months later I was living on a sailboat in Key West." Steve went on to crew on a number of charter boats, and ultimately managed the world tour of an Open 50, arranging for crew, boat shipping, and other logistics. Prior to his arrival at ZMI, Steve was Yard Manager at Valiant Yachts in Texas.

Steve holds a degree in Marine Management from Maine Maritime Academy.

Steve lives in Gloucester County with his wife, Terri.

Steve Zimmerman
President

Steve Zimmerman is the founder and President of Zimmerman Marine, Inc. Steve has logged several thousand miles on the water, including the entire East Coast from Canada to the Caribbean, the Pacific Northwest, and over forty trips between the Chesapeake and Long Island Sound. He has raced, cruised, and worked as a paid hand and captain.

Steve graduated from the University of Virginia and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. While in college Steve developed and directed a non-profit consumer protection agency which mediated complaints between consumers and merchants.

Steve lives in Hartfield, Virginia, with his wife Gwen.
