Tom and Betty Bowdle
Tom and Betty Bowdle, married for 41 years and longtime residents of Delaware. Tom is a retired professional land surveyor, and Betty is a retired elementary school teacher. Tom loves to hunt and fish, and Betty is a gourmet cook who loves to read. 1950s doo-wop music gets them on their feet. The Bowdles cruise with Rip, their 14-year-old Yellow Lab.
SOUTHWIND, a1992 42 foot Jefferson. Tom grew up in a boating family and he and Betty gradually worked their way up from a 22 foot boat to the Jefferson. “We love the layout – lots of room for living aboard while cruising, and easy for the two of us to handle.”
Hunting Creek off of the Miles River, and Marathon, Florida.
“On this trip we tackled two projects: ZMI designed and installed new rudders to improve boat handling, and they replaced the cylinder heads on both engines. Steering has improved dramatically with the larger rudders.”
“This is our fifth trip to the ZMI. We came the first time based on the recommendations of several long time boaters, and the Zimmerman staff solved a persistent vibration problem for us. We keep coming back because the people there really know what they’re doing, and they take a genuine interest in us and our boat. We feel like we’re part of the Zimmerman Marine family.”
