A good marine surveyor will do an excellent job assessing the overall condition of a boat. But boats have become increasingly complex, and it is increasingly difficult for a surveyor to have the knowledge base needed to assess every component of these systems. It is common, for example, to have a mechanic perform the engine and generator surveys. We have found that it is often necessary to have technician aboard to inspect the electrical system, and some of the mechanical systems. Over the past 20 years we have developed detailed inspection procedures, covering over 200 different check points. For most boats, due diligence requires a marine survey, an engine & generator survey, and systems inspections.
